This past month I have been making my own beauty products using recipes from the book Homemade Beauty by Annie Strole and I will be sharing the recipes as well as my experience after using this product for one month.

Olive Oil-Rose Makeup-Removing Cleanser

This soothing, makeup-dissolving face wash thoroughly cleanses your skin while leaving it feeling hydrated and pampered. Olive oil actively removes makeup and debris, and rose water continuously cleanses, refreshes and hydrates.

For Skin Type: ALL

Recipe:

  • 1/2 cup distilled water
  • 1/4 cupe rose water
  • 1 teaspoon liquid castile soap*
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
*She recommends using Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild Castile Soap

Combine all ingredients in a small bottle and shake gently. For use, wet face with warm water, work cleanser between hands to create a lather, massage all over face with warm water and rinse thoroughly.1

My Expereince/Review After One Month:

This make-up remover cleanser actually worked really well. It did leave my skin moisturized and feeling fresh. I recommend this cleanser most to people who shower or bathe at night. I found that using it when showering the steam opens your pores for a better cleanse. I did have to use a face towel to make sure all of the make up was removed. I just soaked the towel in warm water and after applying the cleanser and washing with water I then wiped my face with the warm towel. I found using this cleanser it very relaxing.

  1. The additional of rose water sounds lovely, I've been using straight coconut oil to remove makeup which seems to do the trick but I don't always want to smell like coconut so this would make a super nice alternative!
